NEWBORN SESSIONS

Capturing the very first days of your baby’s life

A sleeping newborn wrapped in a white lace blanket rests peacefully on a soft surface, during a newborn photoshoot in Leicestershire.

What to expect

Those first weeks with your baby are a blur of soft skin, tiny fingers and sleepy cuddles that pass far too quickly. As a newborn photographer in Leicestershire my sessions are all about slowing down, soaking it in, and gently documenting your baby just as they are.

I work in a calm, baby‑led way so you never feel rushed, judged, or pressured into anything that doesn’t feel right for your family. Your baby can feed, cry, be held or need a break whenever they like , we follow their pace, not the clock. I’ll gently guide you into natural positions that feel comfortable and safe, focusing on soft light, connection and all the little details you want to remember forever.

Whether it’s just you and your newborn, or you’re bringing older siblings and grandparents too, we’ll create images that feel honest, tender and timeless, the kind you’ll treasure as they grow.

How a newborn session feels

Newborn sessions are slow, cosy and very relaxed. There’s plenty of time for feeds, nappy changes and cuddles, and no expectation for your baby to “perform”. I’ll talk you through everything, show you how to hold or lie with baby in the most flattering, comfortable ways, and then watch for those real, in‑between moments – a yawn, a tiny stretch, the way they curl into your chest.

You’ll never be placed in stiff poses or asked to smile at the camera the whole time. Instead, I might ask you to breathe your baby in, trace their tiny features with your fingers, or simply close your eyes and hold them close. From there, the moments unfold naturally and I quietly document your connection.

LEICESTERSHIRE NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY FAQ'S

When is the best time to book a newborn session?

Newborn sessions usually take place within the first 5–21 days after birth, when babies are still very sleepy and snug. I’m also very happy to photograph older newborns, so please don’t worry if you’re past that window.

The best time to secure your session is while you’re still pregnant, using your due date as a guide. Once baby has arrived, you just let me know and we’ll confirm a day that works for you all.

What happens if my baby arrives early or late?

There is always flexibility built into my calendar. If your baby arrives early, late, or you simply need extra time, we’ll adjust your date so it works for you and your baby’s needs.
