FAMILY SESSIONS

Real connection, cuddles and chaos

Family in white clothes share an intimate moment while holding their newborn baby, during their family photoshoot in Leicestershire.

What to expect

Family sessions are all about real connection,  the cuddles, the chaos, the belly laughs and quiet in‑between moments you never want to forget. As a family photographer in Leicestershire my sessions are relaxed, playful and child‑led, so you can simply show up, be yourselves and let me gently guide you.

I work in a calm, friendly way so you never feel stiff, awkward or overly posed. I’ll give you simple prompts and activities to do together, focusing on movement, connection and the way you naturally are with your children. Whether your family is loud and energetic or gentle and calm, we’ll create images that feel honest, warm and timeless ,the kind you’ll treasure as your children grow.

How a family session feels

Family sessions are unhurried and easy‑going. We’ll chat, play and move around so no one is standing in one spot smiling at the camera for too long. I’m always looking for those little in‑between moments, the way your child reaches for your hand, the giggles between siblings, the way you look at them when they’re not watching.

I’ll guide you the whole time, so you’re never left wondering what to do. Think: walking, cuddling, tickling, dancing, exploring together. From there, the real moments unfold naturally and I capture your genuine connection, not perfection.

Leicestershire Family Photography FAQ's

How long does a family session last?

Family sessions usually last around 45–60 minutes. This gives us enough time for everyone to warm up, play and relax, without feeling rushed. If little ones need a snack, break or cuddle, we simply pause and go at their pace.

What should we wear for our family session?

Choose comfortable outfits you feel good in, and then build everyone else’s outfits around that. Soft, neutral and earthy tones tend to photograph beautifully, and avoiding big logos or very bright colours keeps the focus on your faces and connection.

I’ll send you a simple styling guide after you book, and you’re always welcome to send me photos of outfit options if you’d like an extra pair of eyes.

My children never sit still – is that a problem?

Not at all. I fully expect children to move, explore and be themselves. I plan sessions around play, tickles, games and cuddles so your children don’t feel like they’re in a formal photo shoot. Some of the best images come from those lively, unplanned moments.
